Preparing Your Home for a Long Weekend Away

Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, and many families will be setting out for a long weekend away to close out the summer! While there are many things to do to prepare your home for a long weekend, we’re thinking outside the box and wanted to give you a few pointers to take care of before you set out on your journey that will leave you feeling refreshed when you arrive home!

Mow the Lawn and Clean Up Flower Beds
There’s nothing worse than coming back from a vacation and seeing your grass overgrown, just as you’re busy unpacking and getting things ready for a new work week! Before you set out on your adventure, take an hour or two to mow the lawn and pull any weeds that may be lingering in your flower beds or gardens. When you pull back up to your home, the refreshed look will help keep that stress away!

Stock the Freezer and the Pantry
While you may not want to leave fresh groceries in the refrigerator to go to waste while you’re away, there’s no harm in stocking your pantry and freezer to have access to groceries in the house for the first day or two that you return from your trip! Grocery items that can go into a crockpot are always a good choice to keep on hand to make your first few days home easy!

Change Bed Linens and Wash All Laundry Before You Go
While being away, there’s nothing better than returning home and sleeping in your own bed! But what’s even better is having fresh sheets to climb into after returning home after your trip! Make it a point to change your bed linens and wash any laundry that you may have before you set out. You may have some residual laundry from your trip, but at least all work clothes and the majority of your other clothes will be clean, just like you’re starting from a fresh slate!
