If you’re an animal lover like we are, you know that your pets aren’t just animals, they are part of the family! When constructing your new home, there are several things that you can incorporate to accommodate your furry family member, to make life easier for you and them!
Incorporate Durable Flooring
Hardwood floors are becoming more and more popular all the time. But, laminate wood flooring looks just as beautiful and is much more durable. Many laminate wood floors are scratch proof and water proof, perfect to avoid marks from your pet’s claws, and, the occasional accident.
Built-In Dog Kennels
If you rely on keeping your pet in a crate while you’re not home, having a built-in crate might be the perfect option for you! Many families opt to use the space under their stairway to make their pets their own space with a fashionable gate, a comfortable bed, food, water, and toys. The built-in kennel is much more aesthetically pleasing than having a crate set up in your home elsewhere. Plus, your dog may feel safe in their own space, especially if they have separation anxiety while you are away.
A Fenced-In Yard
Fencing your back yard so that your dog can roam freely without having to worry about them getting free from a run is a great way to keep them healthy and happy! Outside playdates in the fenced back yard are perfect for throwing a ball or playing “keep away”!
Built-In Food and Water Stations
To reduce clutter on your floors, a built-in food and water station might be a great option for you! A bottom drawer that slides out of your counter top could hold built-in food and water bowls so that when it’s mealtime, you can pull the drawer out an push it back in when your dog is finished eating. We would however recommend that you have a separate water bowl elsewhere so that they have clean drinking water at all times.
