We’re closing in on the end of July which means school will be back in session in just about one more month! While many families will be embarking on their summer vacations and trips to close out the summer, many will be making memories closer to home! If you’re short on ideas (and want to try to avoid spending too much money), here are a few tips to make the last few weeks of summer memorable for your children.
Invest in a Sprinkler System or Temporary Swimming Pool
Many retailers are marking their swimming pools and sprinkler systems down in price as the summer winds down, and you can get ahold of one for almost half of the original retail price. Spending the last few weeks of summer soaking up the rays and making memories with your little ones will be a great way to close out the summer, plus, you can always store your newly acquired pool or sprinkler system for next year!
Take Day Trips to Nearby Museums and Attractions
Living close to major cities is a huge perk, especially when it comes to finding things to do! Southern Maryland and Washington, D.C. are home to many historical attractions, along with amusement parks, water parks and so much more! Make a day trip with your family to check out some of the attractions that our area has to offer!
Make a Summer Memory Book
You may have already had several adventures with your family this summer with souvenirs and photos to prove it! Take a trip to your local craft shop and make a memory book with your children of their favorite parts of the trips! Include photos and have your children make a list of their favorite parts of each excursion. It will be a fun way to relive those memories for your children, and something for you to look back on as they get older!
