Helpful Tips to Make Moving Day Easy

Spring is officially here and with that comes an extremely busy real estate season. Many families choose to buy or sell their homes in the spring and summer seasons while the weather is nice and as the school year comes to an end. If you’re planning to put your home on the market and embark on your new dream home, follow along for some helpful tips to make your moving adventure as easy as possible.

While Packing, Purge Unwanted Items
There is nothing worse than boxing up items that you no longer want or need to move them into a new home, just to get rid of them when you move into your new home. Whether you have old clothing and shoes that you no longer wear, old kitchen gadgets or appliances that you haven’t used in ages, or even old decor that you plan to replace in your new home, consider parting ways with it before you move. Rather than moving all of your old unwanted items to your new home, start purging items you no longer want or need. By doing this, you’ll be giving yourself a fresh start and you won’t have as much clutter to sort through in your new home.

Label All Boxes According to Room
Trying to stay organized while packing up your home is essential. Start by boxing up one room at a time, and labeling the boxes for the rooms they belong in, and with what items are in each box. By doing so, you’ll be able to unpack the priority rooms first (kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms). By labeling the boxes with what is in each box, you will be able to unpack the most important items first (utensils, pantry food, plates, shower curtains and rugs, etc.) and leave the less important items for later on.

Wrap Breakables in Sheets and Comforters
Rather than spending a small fortune on moving supplies like bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts, utilize the items you are already moving to wrap breakables in. Items like towels, sheets and comforters can be used as padding around fragile items like televisions, lamps and more.
