Home Organization Tips Perfect for the School Year

School is back in session, and if you’ve found yourself struggling to stay organized getting back into the swing of things, there are many ways you can add some organization to your home that will help keep the school year running smoothly!

Create a Designated Homework Space
Trying to keep your child’s schoolwork organized can already be a chore in itself, especially if they are working on it in different areas of your home. Whether it’s the kitchen table, dining room, or even in their own bedroom, folders might be left behind and you may receive a call one day from school asking you to bring a folder that was accidentally left behind. One way to get ahead and keep your child’s work more organized is to create a designated homework area. Whether it’s a quiet corner in your living room, a desk in the home office, or even a desk set up in your child’s bedroom, someplace quiet where all of their homework can be completed and then cleaned up and properly packed away for school the next day where nothing will get lost might help you keep your sanity!

Create a Bin with Tomorrow’s Clothes
If you have small children, it can be especially difficult to get them up and ready early in the morning. Whether it’s trying to locate a missing shoe, or even having a hard time finding their favorite shirt, planning for tomorrow is a great way to help you get out the door more quickly in the morning without a headache. Consider purchasing inexpensive bins and have your child pick out (or for small children, you pick out) the outfit that they will be wearing the next day and place it inside. This way, if you need to wash a special shirt, or even scrounge up a special outfit for spirit day, you know it the night before and have time to prepare. Otherwise, your child’s clothes are already prepared and laid out and all they have to do is visit the bin each morning to get dressed.

Designate a Special Drawer or Shelf for Snacks
Children are always on the hunt for snacks, especially after school! Designating a special drawer or shelf in your pantry with healthy snacks that your children can choose from is a great way to keep your pantry organized, and to keep your children from eating too much junk food after school.
