Preparing Your Home for a Great Holiday Season

November has officially arrived which means we are just a few weeks away from the start of a very busy holiday season! Many families will be hosting gatherings for both the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. With the holidays so close together, things can get quite stressful! Here are a few ways to start preparing your home now for a great holiday season!

Stock Up on Paper Goods and Non-Perishable Groceries
If you are planning on hosting a dinner, or, have family coming to stay at your home from out of town, now is a great time to stock up on toilet paper, paper towels, plastic utensils, paper plates and non-perishable grocery items that you’ll need during their stay or even for your holiday meals. These items, since they have a long shelf life, are great to purchase now, to take some of the stress off of you as we get closer to the holidays.

Purchase New or Wash Guest Linens and Set-Up Guest Rooms
If you have family from out of town staying with you, start preparing their living spaces now! Purchase any towels, sheets, or blankets that they might be using, wash them and set them to the side or even make up the guest room for when your guests arrive. That will be one more thing checked off of your to-do list before your guests arrive.

Remove Unwanted Toys to Make Room for Gifts
The holiday season is quite chaotic, especially for families with small children. Now would be a great time to box up any unwanted toys that your children have outgrown or no longer play with and donate them to a local organization, to make room for gifts that they may receive for Christmas. It will make storing their new gifts easier, plus, those toys that you’re removing might make a less fortunate family very grateful that you did!

Sort Through Holiday Decor to Make Room for New Items
Have you been eyeing a new Christmas tree, or, a new set of ornaments? If you’re planning to purchase some new holiday decor, now is a great time to go through your existing decorations to thin out what you don’t plan to use and pass it along to it’s next new home! This will save you the stress of trying to declutter during the busy holiday season!
