Preparing Your Home for Out of Town Guests

With the holiday season often comes hosting out of town guests! If you are opening up your home to your out of town family this holiday season, here are a few tips to help keep them comfortable, and to help you keep your sanity!

Move personal items into your bedroom
Move all personal items including medications, vitamins, towels, sheets, house shoes and robes into your bedroom. Having all of your essential items at your disposal, without having to disturb the house to use your items will help to keep you and your guests comfortable, and will ensure that all of your belongings do not get misplaced.

Additionally, comfort items such as a mini refrigerator with your favorite snacks and drinks, a keurig for coffee and tea and cups, plates and utensils may give you the ability to sneak away for a drink, snack or just a break in general, in your own space.

Place Linens, Towels, Extra Toiletries and Other Personal Items into Guest Room
You want your out of town guests to have everything they need while staying with you! Place extra sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, wash cloths, and extra toiletry items like shampoo, toothpaste, lotion, and even items like pain relievers stocked in the room and/or bathroom that they will be using. Think hotel space, and make their stay as comfortable as possible.

Keep a Copy of Your Wi-Fi Password in the Bedroom Where Your Guests Will Be Staying
There is nothing worse than being out of town and out of touch with family and friends back home. Keep a copy of your WiFi password in the bedroom where your out of town guests will be stay, especially if they are kids or young adults!

Purchase Extra Disposable Items and On-The-Go Foods
To give yourself a break from excess dishes and cooking, purchase on-the-go snacks, breakfast items and disposable plates, silverware and cups that your family can use as-needed, without giving you extra loads of housework than you already will have.
