Spring is right around the corner and with our longer days and warming temperatures, you may be feeling an extra boost of energy to get your home in tip-top shape for the upcoming spring and summer seasons! If you’re thinking that cleaning and organizing are on your horizon, here are a few tips to help you get started!
Sort and Donate Old Clothes
As you prepare to store your winter clothes and break into your spring and summer wardrobe, take some extra time to sort through your winter clothes before you put them into storage and your spring and summer clothes before they get moved into your closet! Create a pile of clothes that you are no longer wearing, or, that no longer fit. As long as they are in good shape, consider donating them to those in need. This will help avoid taking up space in your storage containers or in your closet if you don’t plan to wear the items anyway. Plus, you’ll feel less cluttered when arranging your clothing!
Take Time to Clean Less Common Items
Although you may clean your main living spaces each week, there are plenty of places in your home that may be neglected during your typical cleaning cycle. Make a list and plan to tackle a few items each week from your not-so-common list. Start with cleaning the insides and outsides of your home’s windows, your oven, your refrigerator, laundry room, dryer ducts and more! Take some time to clean the interior doors and walls of your home to rid them of fingerprints and smudges that go unnoticed during the busy year!
Rid Your Spaces of Old Kitchen Equipment
Take some time to sort through your pots and pans, kitchen utensils and Tupperware drawers to reduce how many items you’re storing. Start with ensuring all containers have matching lids and are in good shape, and that all pans are free of scratches and damages (especially if they are non-stick surfaces). If there are items that you don’t regularly use, consider donating them to those in need. Slimming down your cabinets will help you keep them more organized and clutter-free!
